Ancient Baptistry (1)

These early Christian baptistries are shaped like a cross. These baptistries are located in Avdat, and Mamshit/Mampsis in the Negev and likely built in the Byzantine era 250-600AD. The Arabs conquered the area around 636AD. Scriptures: Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16, Romans 6:3-5, 1 Peter 3:21

Fishing Boat

This is the recovered remains of a fishing boat from the sea of Galilee in Israel. Such a boat reminds us of the boats of which the fishermen used which became apostles. You can get an idea of the size of the boat from the man standing at the left. Scripture: Matt 4:18, Matt 13:48, Mark 1:16, Luke 5:2, John 21:7

Phylacteries

Phylacteries were boxes containing scriptures that were worn by Jews on the back of their hands and their foreheads. Jesus criticized the hypocrites for making them large for pride's sake. Scripture: Matt 23:5

Scribe

A scribe's job was to copy the scriptures. As a result, they became known as the knowledgeable people of the Jewish Bible and law. Scripture: Matt 23

Manger

A stone manger in Israel. This was used to put animal feed in for the farm animals. This may have been the kind of manger that Jesus was put in as an infant. Scripture: Luke 2:7-16
