Slide 5 of 21
Notes:
Why did God give us the Bible? (Ask class for their answers and then use
these to augment:
- God gave us the Bible so that we would know that he Loves us
- that we might believe and be saved - John 20:30-31
- to give us examples and warnings - 1Cor 10:11
- as a history, to tell us from where we came and to where we are going
- to tell us how to be saved
- to remind us and stimulate us - 2Peter 3:1
- so that we can know we are saved - 1John 5:13
- so that we will not sin - 1John 2:1
- so that we could have faith - "For then faith cometh by hearing and hearing
by the word of God" Romans 10:17.
(For more information do a concordance review of the scriptures in the New
Testament that use forms of the word "write". You will find a lot of these in
the book of 1John.)
Nothing that God did was without reason or purpose. Some say that the Bible
is the only book in the world that tells us where we came from, what we
are doing here and where we are going. God gave us the Bible because He
wanted us to know His plans and our purpose.
