SCRIPTURE
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realise that Christ Jesus is in you-- unless, of course, you fail the test?” - 2Corinthians 13:5 (NIV)
Notes:
In 2 Corinthians 13:5 (NIV) Paul said "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realise that Christ Jesus is in you - - unless, of course, you fail the test?" In other passages such as Galatians 6:3-4 (NIV) Paul said "3 If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else,". Psal 119:59 "I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes." Also Lamentations 3:40, 1Cor 11:31, Haggai 1:5, etc.
The idea of stopping to take a personal inventory is certainly a Biblical one.
